Empowering the Future: The Arc of Boone County & Surplus City Partnership
At The Arc of Boone County, we are committed to equipping students with the job skills and opportunities they need to succeed. Through our partnership with Surplus City, we offer a transformative experience for young individuals unsure of their career paths by providing a hands-on, nine-week summer internship program.
This collaboration with Surplus City allows students to explore careers in warehouse management, material handling, and related fields, giving them invaluable real-world experience. Students learn in a supportive environment where they develop the confidence, skills, and knowledge necessary to pursue fulfilling careers.
Real-World Learning for Real-World Impact
The partnership between The Arc of Boone County and Surplus City goes beyond simple internships. It's about community, growth, and giving back. Through this program, students not only gain practical skills but also become active contributors to their community, feeling empowered and valued.
Many available opportunities in warehouse and material handling offer a solid foundation for the future. The students experience first-hand what it’s like to work in these environments, supported by dedicated coaches who guide them through the journey. By the end of the program, students are more self-assured, having come out of their shells, and ready to tackle new challenges.
A Mutual Benefit for Students and Leaders
The program doesn't just benefit the students. It also provides the leaders and coaches involved with opportunities to develop their own leadership skills, fostering a collaborative and positive working environment.
This initiative has created a win-win scenario: students get the training they need, while Surplus City and The Arc of Boone County continue to strengthen their bonds with the local community.
